When choosing to buy a shipping container, it’s important to understand the difference between container conditions and grades so that you can be sure you select the right container for your requirements.
We have three container conditions: Used, One Trip, and Refurbished. These conditions are further broken down into grading which gives an indication of the state and the structural soundness of the container. The condition and grade of the container will directly influence the price. Plus, the distance of the shipping container near your location.
New one-trip shipping containers are storage containers that have been used once to ship goods overseas and typically originate in China.
One-Trip Containers are the newest containers available for sale. They are used once for shipping goods overseas from China to offset the cost of the container. Once they reach their destination, they are put up for sale. Due to their long ocean voyage, which can be an average of 75 to 90 days, and being handled with heavy equipment, these containers may have minor dents, dings, and rust but are mostly still in prime condition.
The dents can also be a result of being stacked and moved around storage yards with heavy trucks and equipment. There can be some marks on the sides and roof of the box after transportation sometimes due to coming into contact with other containers.
During handling, forklifts may cause scratches on the container’s floor. However, all of these are considered typical and should be minor damage.
One-Trip shipping containers do not have ship line markings on them and are painted in one solid color, typically, tan, gray, or blue in color. They will, however, have the required marking such as container numbers, dimensions, and storage capacity.

Our most popular container, used general purpose containers, have been in heavy-duty shipping service for 5 to 15 years before being “retired.”
Most used shipping containers will have the original paint and shipping line markings. They will also have surface rust, dents, and abrasions. Used shipping containers might not look good on the outside and inside, but depending on their grade, they will be structurally sound and some may still be suitable for export.
