The Power of MSC Tessa: World’s Largest Container Ship

The Power of MSC Tessa World’s Largest Container Ship

Have you heard of the amazing MSC Tessa? It is the biggest shipping container ship ever built and it has been made with incredible engineering craftsmanship. Let’s take a look at why this remarkable vessel has gained such widespread recognition in the international maritime industry and discover its impressive capabilities.

Cheapest Shipping Containers For Sale

The Magnificent Megaship

The MSC TESSA was built with skill and care. It was made by Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard, which belongs to China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC). The Shipping line (MSC) Mediterranean Shipping Company spent around $600 million to build this biggest ship. It was delivered to a shipyard in Shanghai’s Changxing Shipbuilding Base.

The MSC Tessa is a marvel of engineering, standing 400 meters long and 58.6 meters wide – with a carrying capacity of 24,116 containers stacked 26 layers high! This impressive class vessel can transport up to 240,000 tons in total, no wonder it has become so well-liked amongst professionals in the industry.

The MSC is introducing a revolutionary ship class, with an additional 13 vessels to be delivered. When all ships are launched, the organization will boast a stunning total capacity of 1.7 million TEUs across its fleet. MSC operates on some of the most trafficked routes connecting Asia, Europe, and North America.

MSC Tessa's Forceful Powerhouse

The MSC Tessa is powered by a two-stroke, MAN B&W 10K98ME-C10.2 engine that produces an incredible 92,000 horsepower – enabling it to glide through waters at top speeds of 24 knots (27 miles per hour).

It has been designed with efficiency in mind; equipped with a revolutionary system that uses bubbles to help the vessel operate more economically and produce fewer emissions up to 4%. Despite this progress, diesel marine engines still emit pollutants into our environment. Until then we can only fantasize about ships without any environmental footprint.

As impressive as these features are, safety is still key for any large vessel like MSC Tessa; this is why they have invested heavily in installing modern technologies such as the Global Maritime Distress Safety System (GMDSS) which enables them to respond quickly in case of emergencies or incidents on board the vessel.

This great ship also has a fully automated bridge, making it easier for the crew to navigate. On top of that, MSC Tessa also features advanced tracking systems and sensors that provide real-time data on their cargo, allowing them to track their containers in transit with ease and precision.

The MSC Tessa's Journey Route

On March 16th, 2023, the MSC TESSA set sail from its original dock in Ningbo. It will make stops at Shanghai and Yantian before heading to Rotterdam, Antwerp, Felixstowe and then eventually arriving in Singapore for its final destination.

Its high efficiency and environmentally friendly features also set it apart from other vessels, making it a truly remarkable ship of its kind. We can only imagine what this massive ship will be capable of achieving in the years ahead.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long do container ships stay in port?

Container ships typically spend 0.8 days in port on average. The exact duration varies due to factors like port efficiency, cargo handling, and the ship’s schedule. Some ships have shorter stays, lasting a few hours, while others may stay for up to 48 hours. These figures are estimates and can differ based on specific ports and situations.

How many large container ships in the world?

Over 50,000 container ships are currently engaged in international shipping according to the International Chamber of Shipping, which accounts for approximately 90% of global trade in goods. These vessels transport a wide range of items across different ports worldwide, serving as a crucial link in the global supply chain network.

How much fuel does a container ship use?

On average, container ships can consume between 20 to 70 tons of fuel per day, and in some cases, this figure can even go up to 400 tons per day. However, significant fuel savings can be achieved by reducing the ship’s speed.

How many crew members on a large container ship?
